Be the Village. Dialogues with the Dalai Lama. Vancouver 2014
How can we all “be the village” that educates the hearts of children? This was the central theme of Dalai Lama’s most recent visit to Vancouver. Maria produced the events of the Heart-Mind Learning Day at John Oliver Secondary School, and the Vancouver Convention Centre, and moderated a lively dialogue with the Dalai Lama.
For 5 years Maria Co-designed and hosted the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education Heart-Mind Conference. The aim of our annual Heart-Mind conference is to give the adults who care for children the tools and strategies they need to help those children, and themselves, thrive. These tools are supported by scientific evidence and can be used in the classroom, at home and in the community – in any learning environment for young people.
After 5 years of study Maria graduated from UBC with a Masters of Education (emphasis on Social and Emotional Learning). Thanks to supervision and support from Dr. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl.
