Be the Village. Dialogues with the Dalai Lama. Vancouver 2014

How can we all “be the village” that educates the hearts of children? This was the central theme of Dalai Lama’s most recent visit to Vancouver. Maria produced the events of the Heart-Mind Learning Day at John Oliver Secondary School, and the Vancouver Convention Centre, and moderated a lively dialogue with the Dalai Lama.

This was the second conference produced and moderated by Maria for the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education. Heart-Mind 2014 shared the most up-to-date science and practice of how adults can cultivate kindness, empathy, compassion and altruism in children and in themselves.

Graduation! Masters of Education

After 5 years of study Maria graduated from UBC with a Masters of Education (emphasis on Social and Emotional Learning). Thanks to supervision and support from Dr. Kimberly Schonert-Reichl.

The Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education

Maria is now Director of Programs at the Dalai Lama Center for Peace and Education, and is helping this Vancouver-based non-profit carry out its mission of educating the hearts of children by informing, inspiring and engaging the communities around them.
